TThe Occupational Certificate: Small Business Consultant is designed for professionals who support entrepreneurship and enterprise development. This qualification equips you with the applied knowledge, practical skills, and workplace experience needed to advise, mentor, and guide small businesses toward sustainability and growth.


 At The DaVinci Institute, we focus on applied, work-integrated learning. This programme develops your ability to diagnose business challenges, improve financial and operational performance, support compliance, and strengthen strategy in real-world small business contexts. You will graduate with a strong, practice-oriented consulting capability, ready to contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem


You will develop the capability to:

  • Identify and clarify key improvement elements in the value chain.
  • Appraise personal capabilities for performing business consulting.
  • Examine due diligence and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Evaluate business performance, business owner and activities.
  • Provide strategic and operational consulting service.
  • Establish and implement change management structures.
  • Entrench project implementation approach.

This is a fully integrated occupational qualification consisting of:

  • Knowledge Modules (Project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, risk, procurement, stakeholders and more)
  • Practical Skills Modules (Planning, scheduling, costing, controlling, reporting, and delivery management)
  • Workplace Experience Modules (Applied learning in real project environments)
  • All components are compulsory and designed to build complete, work-ready project management competence.

Entry Requirements

  • An NQF Level 4 with Mathematical Literacy and Communication. 
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered for experienced professionals who do not meet the formal entry requirements.
