DaVinci Convocation

At The DaVinci Institute, a convocation is an official forum made up of alumni, current and retired permanent academic staff members, and members of the executive management team of the institute.
It engages in matters affecting the institute’s
development, governance, and legacy.
The DaVinci Institute’s Convocation was constituted in 2020 to promote and enhance the institute’s reputation.
As part of its responsibilities, the DaVinci Convocation debates and states its opinion on matters referred to it by the Board, the Senate, and/or the Institutional Forum of the institute.
It also plays a critical role in promoting the institute’s community and business interests.
Convocation Executives
Our Convocation is currently led by three executives, Dr Babongile Mkhize (chairperson and doctoral alumnus), Dr John
Mgwenya (doctoral alumnus) and Belinda Goddard (academic staff member). Part of the executives’ responsibility is to
uphold the institute’s core principles of curiosity, systemic thinking, embracing the shadow, and living a well-integrated and
balanced life.
The Importance of the Convocation to Alumni
The Convocation empowers alumni to have a say in their alma mater’s matters, ensuring that the quality and reputation of their qualification are maintained and strengthened. It is at the forefront of maintaining the integrity of the institute. As a DaVinci alumnus, the Convocation enables you to have a voice in the matters of the institute.
Upon graduation, an alumnus has the option of joining the DaVinci Convocation, ensuring their voice contributes to shaping the institute’s reputation, governance, development and legacy. By joining our Convocation, you will contribute to maintaining the excellence and reputation of your DaVinci qualification.
